Trans and Non-Binary Menstruation

In 2018-2019, I conducted 21 formal interviews with trans and nonbinary emerging adults (18-29) across the United States. The resulting paper was published by Sociological Inquiry online in February 2020.

Participants expressed their desire to see the paper translated into graphics or zines. Due credit to Jac Dellaria, who translated the findings and quotes into stunning comic panels, presenting us all with a visual narrative of menstruation for trans and genderqueer people.

Check out our project and Jac’s amazing artwork! Our utmost gratitude to participants, to the University of Wisconsin – Madison Institutional Review Board, the Department of Sociology and the faculty who helped support this project.
