This page began during the Spring 2020 semester when students and teachers were facing sudden changes in their social, physical, and emotional lives with isolation and Covid-19 regulations. It has been shaped by my own interests and student contributions to the resources listed.
After multiple requests for a list of things I recommend during courses, this page shall suffice! These are personally recommended podcasts, films, activities, etc. — most are related to my teaching and research interests.
To maintain their power, dominant groups create and maintain a popular system of ‘commonsense’ ideas that support their right to rule. In the United States, hegemonic ideologies concerning race, class, gender, sexuality, and nation are often so pervasive that it is difficult to conceptualize alternatives to them, let alone ways of resisting the social practices that they justify.
